Dr. Sage Smelik is from Wilmington, NC. She attended UNC Chapel Hill for undergrad, where she majored in nutritional biochemistry and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the Gillings School of Global Public Health. Dr. Smelik then attended NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, where she developed a passion for equine internal medicine and anesthesia. She dreams of pursuing a residency in one of those fields. Dr. Smelik has a cat, Hugh, who she adopted during undergrad, and a rescue dog named Ren, adopted during vet school. She spends most of her free time taking Ren dog on adventures, such as hiking, paddle-boarding, and trying out breweries. She also loves camping, running, spending time with friends, traveling, and going to concerts.
