Lauren Holley, BVSc (Hons)

DIPLOMATE OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF VETERINARY INTERNAL MEDICINE

Dr. Lauren Holley was born in South Africa, and her family later moved to Brisbane, Australia, in 2005. She completed her veterinary degree at the University of Queensland (UQ) School of Veterinary Science in 2019. She served as president of the Peer Support Network, a student-run initiative to improve mental health awareness and provide mentorship and counseling (including mental health first aid) for veterinary students and the broader veterinary community.

In January of 2020, she moved to the United States to complete her 18-month rotating internship here at Rhinebeck Equine prior to completing a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, in Massachusetts. She has returned to Rhinebeck Equine as an internal medicine specialist as well as a reproductive fellow (under the guidance of our amazing Dr. Pasch).

Dr. Holley is board- certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has special interests in the periparturient period (both mare and neonatal foal care), respiratory medicine, and emergency and critical care. She hopes to continue developing her skills in equine reproduction. She has a keen interest in providing the best patient care during high-risk pregnancies.

Outside of work, Dr. Holley enjoys powerlifting and obstacle course races (such as Spartan Races), as well as outdoor activities including camping and skiing. She also enjoys crocheting (mostly Amigurumi animals) and reading “romantasy” (romance and fantasy) books. She and her fiance, Jimmy, are avid board game players and live with their two young cats, Frankie and Bean, in upper Red Hook.

Dr. Holley strives to bring excellent care and compassion to the horses of the Hudson Valley. She also hopes to mentor and guide the next generation of veterinarians, through her love of teaching.
